Homoeopathic treatments for malaria & dengue

The mosquito-borne diseases of malaria and dengue affect hundreds of millions of people every year, and are among the world's major killers. Traditional medicine has no prophylactics (preventatives) for dengue, and limited treatments - commonly, patients are hospitalized for hydration. Traditional medicine can treat malaria, but rarely cures it permanently, and the prophylactics are normally taken only for short periods for fear of liver damage.

Although it has not been subject to formal clinical trials, homoeopathy has been found highly effective in treating and preventing malaria. Cures are sometimes faster than with traditional medicine, have no side effects, and can result in complete elimination of the disease. Homoeopathic prophylactics for malaria can be taken safely on a long-term basis, unlike conventional alternatives.

Homoeopathic remedies and prophylactics for dengue have been tested only recently (unlike the malarial treatments which have been used in both Asia and Africa for over a century), but the limited experience to date is very promising. While the homoeopathic remedies are experimental, they are believed - like other homoeopathic medicines - to be perfectly safe, with no side effects.

The prophylactics for both malaria and dengue are supplied in the form of small pills, tasting only of sugar (popular with children). Take one tablet per week for prevention, starting just before entering a malarial area and continuing for three weeks afterwards. For patients who already have the disease, three pills per day provides effective first aid treatment. This may be sufficient, but patients with the disease are advised to seek a further consultation. For all homoeopathic remedies, it is important that the remedies should be taken correctly. For malaria and dengue, the dosage is the same for people of all ages, including babies and the elderly.

The malaria prophylactics currently available offer protection against the strains caused by the four species of malaria parasite: plasmodium vivax, p.falciparum, p.malariae and p.ovale.

Enquiries from physicians are welcomed. The Homoeopathic Clinic would be happy to work with research laboratories interested in further work on the homoeopathic treatment for malaria and dengue, and to improve the formulation against any new strains identified.

No medical remedy can be guaranteed, although the results so far have been very encouraging. The few failures reported recently for the malaria prophylactics have been associated with general failures of the immune system. Naturally, good general health (stemming from sound nutrition, adequate exercise and rest, etc) is important. Avoiding mosquito bites, when possible, is even more helpful. Standard advice is to use insect repellent, wear long sleeves and trousers, and to use mosquito nets for sleeping.

The Homoeopathic Clinic is run by Dr Anne Wynne-Simmons. Homoeopathic remedies, including prophylactics for malaria and dengue, may be obtained by mail order.

  • Testimonial: this website has been prepared with the assistance of Dr Wynne-Simmons' sister, Claire Barnes, the managing director of Apollo Investment Management, who contracted malaria in India and arrived at her sister's door in a state of collapse. The subsequent 'miracle cure' impressed the whole family, not to mention some of the London fund management community. Claire and a growing circle of friends and colleagues, in Malaysia and elsewhere, believe in the efficacy of the prophylactics. Dr Wynne-Simmons and these clients would like to encourage further research into the potential of homoeopathic treatments for malaria and dengue.
